Four days to go to P's Make A Wish Trip!
Last weekend Jim and Paige went to Great America to enjoy some warm (sort of) spring weather. Paige did her first roller coaster ride by herself (she told Dad she wanted to go by herself on the Spacely's Sprockets Rockets ride and the Little Dipper roller coaster).
Here she is with Tweety Bird and Foghorn Leghorn at Great America.
Jim and Paige on the Orbitz ride.
A few days later we headed to Children's Hospital of WI for P's annual exercise stress test and a cardiology visit. Both were done at the Herma Heart Center, a great facility we've been visiting regularly since Paige was diagnosed with HLHS in September of 2004 (several months before her February 2005 birth).
44 inches tall (45 inches with the flip flops).
Getting all set up for her stress test with Mr. Mike, P's exercise physiologist.
P walked and then ran on the treadmill while Mr. Mike and Miss Jen kept track of her heart rate. We found out during the stress test that Mr. Mike is a huge fan (and repeat visitor) of WDW and he was telling us all sort of fun info and helpful hints for our upcoming visit.
Towards the end of the test P was getting a little tired, Mr. Mike promised P a package of Mickey Mouse Bandz (those little rubber bracelets) if she could finish - and wow, she lit right up. Thank you, Mr. Mike, she loves the bandz!
Like most 6 year old girls, Paige loves stickers - she and Mr. Mike raided the cardiac monitor sticker supply and put them all over her face.
Next it was time for the checkup with the cardiologist. Paige got to wear the stethescope and listen to her own heart. Pretty neat.
Here is Paige with Dr. Michele Frommelt, our pediatric cardiologist. Dr. Michele was the first doctor we met at Children's Hospital back in 2004 and has been with us every step of the way - thanks Dr. Michele!
Hopefully our next post will be on May 18, the first day of our trip. I'm not entirely clear what sort of internet availability there will be at Give Kids the World Village, where we are staying - we'll do our best to update this blog daily to share with everyone all the fun we have on our trip.
